    A Day in the Life of a Financial Analyst (Pharmacy MAC):

    In coordination with the Pharmacy Finance Team Lead, the Financial Analyst (Pharmacy MAC) is responsible for compiling, analyzing, trending, tracking and interpretation of pharmacy data.  This position will be responsible for the support of the maximum allowable cost (MAC) program, including market surveillance, pricing analysis, and on-going, weekly updates.  Report on development, benchmarking and other financial reporting activities that contribute to corporate reporting objectives, business solutions and recommendations. 



    • Provide analytical support/assistance to internal departments as well as for external entities and activities related to the pharmacy and MAC Management:
      • Develop and implement reporting processes related to the analysis of pharmacy costs, utilization measurements, and MAC pricing benchmarks
      • Develop and present statistical analysis and summary data related to drug cost and GER savings opportunities
      • Support for monitoring and understanding state MAC laws and putting them into action
      • Support for communicating MAC changes as necessary by law and contractual obligations
      • Maintain operational and strategic relationships with internal and external clients to understand and drive company performance and ensure data integrity
      • Monitor compliance with pharmacy contracts as it relates to MAC
      • Responsible for access to various external information sources such as First Data Bank, Medispan, and others as needed
      • Using drill down and root cause methodologies to review data statistics and identify opportunities for improvement
      • Develop and present statistical analysis and summary data to internal and external customers
      • Develop and implement reporting processes related to the analysis of MAC costs, utilization measurements, and benchmarks
    • Identify and use appropriate software applications to produce custom reports from administrative databases.  Extract data, perform appropriate verification, format, print and distribute reports to internal and external customers including graphical representations of data as needed
    • Develop ad-hoc reports as needed
    • Increase efficiency through standardization and automation of report processes
    • Support for ensuring there are policies and procedures in place for all current and new processes


    What you can bring to Meridian:

    • Bachelor degree in business, finance, math, information systems, or in a health care related field is required
    • Experience in using PC-based software packages, including relational database systems, spreadsheets, word processing and statistical software
    • Experience with ad-hoc reporting tools
    • Experience working on team projects in the health care industry
    • Knowledge of MAC Management principles and procedures is preferred
    • Knowledge of statistical and analytical techniques
    • Knowledge of drug terminology and therapeutic classes is preferred
    • Knowledge of Medicaid, Medicare, and Pharmacy Benefit Management is preferred
    • Excellent analytical skills
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills
